Convert Any Web Site To Desktop Application: Prism

Google’s own online office suite is a great replacement to all the other software based ones: Google Docs, GMail, GReader and GTalk have literally revolutionized the way many of us think of email, RSS, and Office Documents. There are many ways to embed them into our sidebar to easily bring them up, personalize and make them better with some ad-hoc extensions…But what if you wanted to detach them from your browser and make them live on their own?

Prism is a really cool application by Mozilla, that aims to transform every website into a standalone application. All you need to do, is to give a name and a URL to the application you want to create, and let Prism do the rest.

Now, everytime you want to open that site or website, you will just have to click on the shortcut that you will find on you desktop, and start using it with no browser or any other external program.

What has it to do with Firefox? Simple! Mozilla Prism comes also as a Firefox extension that lets you create applications right from your browser, with one single click.

Just go to the Tools menu, select “Convert Website to Application”, and you are done.
